Learning is relatively permanent change in behavior.
Classical Conditioning (Ivan parlor)
Classical conditioning means learning by association. Classical conditioning can be done in four ways.
- Unconditional Stimulus (UCS/US)
- Unconditional Response (UCR/UR)
- Conditional Stimulus (CS)
- Conditional response (CR)
Unconditional Stimulus
It is the type of natural stimulus that has the natural ability. For example when we see Food.
Unconditional Response
An unlearn reaction to an unconditional stimulus for example Saliva for food.
Conditional stimulus
Neutral stimuli that can generate a condition respond by association for example bell or red light.
Condition Response
A learned reaction to a condition stimulus because of association.
Principles of Classical Conditioning
- Acquisition
- Extinction
- Spontaneous
- Stimulus Generation
- Stimulus Discrimination.
Acquisition
Formation of a new condition Response tendency that is when someone learns something new by association.
Extinction
A gradual weakening or disappearing of condition Response tendency because of multiple presentations of condition stimulus without Unconditioned stimulus.
Spontaneous Recovery
Sometime there is re appearance of a condition response that extinguishes or disappears.
Stimulus Generation
A response to a specific stimulus becomes associated to other similar stimulus.
Stimulus Discrimination
When a subject is able to differentiate the condition stimulus and the similar stimulus and response only to the condition stimulus.
